Yes, no kissing trees. My GF worked as a nurse in Aspen and she talked a lot about tree kissing. So not for you!!! LOL.  

Our general philosophy is that if you tangle with a tree while skiing, the tree always wins 😉 Just couldn't get my skis around fast enough to make the turn and miss it  

Oh no, I don't blame you I don't think I'd want to kiss Mr. tree either! That's not the nymph you were looking for, LOL. Well I'm glad you didn't get hurt or at least if you did it's just your tookus. Honestly, I've never been skiing I've always wanted to go, but the only opportunity I had to go I was afraid that I would fall and break a leg and therefore miss work not to mention it was an invitation from a guy friend of ours and so I was kind of afraid that it might have been from a questionable place and because Ryan wasn't able to go (work) I was concerned from an impropriety standpoint that it might look poorly on me or that Ryan might be concerned as the trip would be paid for by the other person I wouldn't want Ryan to feel concerned. Not that he hadn't been fully invited and also offered to be paid for as well, but where he wasn't able to go I didn't want him to feel awkward or weird about the situation so I abstained from going. 

A tree once took out my Volvo, total loss as the frame was bent. I went to look at the tree and it had a little bark that fell off, no other damage at all. So, yeah, no tree kisses! 

Skiing is a lot of fun, Leah. If you get another chance, try it! Although your first time on skis is always a "Jane, stop this crazy thing!" kind of experience. Fortunately, I wasn't going fast enough to get seriously hurt. Cross country skiing is a little more mellow on that point. 

Yikes, FatD! I'm enough of a tree hugger, that I'm glad the tree survived, but sorry about your car! 

I think I mentioned this B4 but I did kiss a teee! Last time I ever skied. Broke my foot.... 

Unless it's a glade trail, best to stay away for sure! Great mileage!  

Change your wax for conditions, maybe? 

Misspoke, don’t change it, just wax ‘em. You’re almost into Spring skiing. 

I'm a former skier, but I've never tried cross country. I think, for my age of 70, it would be an excellent next choice. I had an experience with an infected fresh root canal. It ruined 5 years of my life, because 3 doctors refused to believe that it was causing my case of full blown hives, from head to toe. After year 3, I found a dentist who gave in to my demand to have the root canal tooth extracted. Within a week, the hives were gone. I still had 2 years of joint pain to suffer through. The hotshot allergist in STL had me taking the equivalent of 6 Zyrtec a day, in addition to loads of other goodies that were killing my adrenal glands. All because he refused to believe that a bad root canal was causing hives. I had episodes of pressure in the tooth. The excessive medications and toxins ended up settling in my joints and brain. I couldn't recall the previous day. It took about 2 years to get the toxins out of my system. Since then, any time a dentist mentions a root canal, I opt for an extraction. Now, I wear partial plates for the missing molars. Btw, my offending root canal never should've happened, as the tooth had a hairline crack, which caused an infection and abscess at the tip of the root. It was not visible on any type of xray, but was seen, along with a whiff of abscess, when the tooth was extracted. If you're having an infected root canal, it could be from a hairline crack in the tooth. Another bit of info is that any abscess in the body causes heart valve damage. 

Thanks for the intel, jdode. I'm still hoping to save the tooth, so I'm going to get it re-treated Monday with an endodontist instead of my regular dentist. If we can't get it cleared out, I'll opt for extraction  

Infections can cause bacterial seeding on heart valves; the right antibiotics can prevent that. Yeah, don't you hate it when a provider doesn't listen to what you know about the body you've lived in all your life? 

Ouch, Diana! Thanks, jujugirl :) Any time we get over 5 miles, it's a big day for us. Katsolo - I leave the ski wax in my husband's hands, and he's a "wax is wax" kinda guy. On the other hand, he waxes them frequently, so I'm not complaining. Gopher - I'll admit I googled some variation of "can you die from a dental infection" way too many times during all this 😂 Trust me when I say that a) I'm getting this taken care of as fast as I possibly can, and b) had I known it was infected sooner, I would have done all this sooner.
