Plenty of colour 

Leah -- in my house, this show has run for nearly 40 years 🤣 I tend to cook by concept, not recipe. I'm not currently tracking food, but when I was, it made it a little difficult  

Chessnut -- it's a good rule of thumb for me to try to get something red and something green on the plate. And I do so love starting with the smell of sauteed onions and garlic 😋 I accidentally bought too much garlic, so I used a ton of it 

Yum! 

I love this and love leftovers and whatever I can make with ingredients. I learned that growing up and also in my younger adult years raising kids and on a tight budget!  

I understand that we have some unusual meals sometimes because of the objects and items the food bank brings that I wouldn't normally prepare. We also have more food waste because of that as well because sometimes the items that the food bank brings are not usable. This most often happens with the potatoes that they bring because many of them are already too far gone to be used. 🤷 We also utilize odds and ends from our workplaces as well so sometimes we eat foods that we wouldn't normally eat just because they were free and try to incorporate them into our meals. Waste not want not 😊.

Leah and Redporchlady -- I was taught to cook by my mother, whose operating instructions in the kitchen were, "so it looks right." 😂 We were a poor household, and I spent some chunks of my adult life without much for groceries. (In college, I had to sell plasma.) So yep, we try to avoid food waste
