Been out of the FS world for a few days and not really caring about my diet. Life/death happens. We lost our little love, our dog Jackson after 15 years. We knew it was coming and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have had him that long (as a 60lb dog), but it doesn't make his loss easier. After 15 years, he wasn't just a family member he was an integral part of our lifestyle. Literally, our world revolved around him his feedings, walks, exercise, health, sickness. He was diagnosed with spleen cancer in August, and held on remarkably until just last week.
Luckily I'm not a person who consoles myself with food, so that was reasonable, but I did drink wine and generally not care about the quality of what I consumed. And, I feel that was okay for a few days. Grief is tough and we all handle it in our own way. This morning I took a walk at the beach before going to work, and I'm considering myself in re-set mode. Not entirely there, but booting back up...slowly.
Just another reminder to be gracious with each other, and ourselves. We never really know what's going on in people's lives.

Awww, honey. Our Akita mix is 15 too. I know he won't last forever, and I cry every time I think about it. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Im so so sorry. I read somewhere that the only time a dog will break your heart is the day they pass away. I have been thru it many times in my life and it never gets easier. He was so lucky to be loved so much as you were so lucky to love him. Give yourself grace and patience. Jackson must have been amazing🥰

So sorry for the loss! Our pets are certainly way more than just that! It's such a hard thing to go through. We are going through our dog having terminal bladder cancer. My heart is with you!🩷🩷🩷

Thank you for this. Thank you for reminding me that sadness can be love. Thank you for reminding me that grief can be my way of saying, "I wish it could be otherwise, but I accept your truth." Hiding from grief causes it to come out sideways. Accepting grief may hurt while you are in it, but it is the shortest path back to inner peace. 🕊❤️🩹

Thanks so much for all of your words of kindness, prayers and support. They say grief is love with no where to go. And, I'm feeling this deeply right now. YOH, for sure that is the only day.
For all of us who have gone through this, with our pets, our family and friends thank you for your grace and wisdom. For those of you who are currently working through health issues with your pets, my heart is right there with you. 💝
