when do you eat if you exercise in the evening? I try not to eat after 6 but if I go to a class in the evening it will be 6:30-7 before I can eat. Eating before doesn't seem like a good thing to me....

You should definitely eat before your workout - your body will need some fuel. I eat a slice of whole wheat toast, spread lightly with peanut or almond butter and topped with half a sliced banana. Your body needs both complex and simple carbs in order to release energy steadily throughout your workout.

Thingonetwo has a great meal idea there! Then, when you get home, eat the rest of what you've planned, but eat lightly. Your metabolism will still be revved up from the workout so you should be able to eat later than you usually would, on class nights, with no problem :)

Oohh, good question! I always exercise after work....I feel too week and lethargic in the morning.

low carb items I used to do before the gym (that didn't adversely affect my stomach or the workout lol) was cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs w/a little mayo, nuts if you're in that stage or even a big spoonful of peanutbutter in a pinch. Something with a little heft to the belly and a bit of oomph for the workout...

I eat a small dinner an hour before working out in the evening (usually eat it while at work - just soup and salad or fruit) and then nothing afterwards. Why? Because we eat to have energy to do a task. I don't need energy to drive home and shower and read a book/watch a movie before bed. So my final feeding is before 6 p.m.

have a protein drink or small protein bar after your workout, it will kill your hunger bug & you won't overeat
