I worked for a Crisis Hotline for over 10 years. The most dangerous time is when you try to leave. I agree with the suggestion you leave when he isn't there and let the attorney handle serving the divorce papers. Also, if possible, don't let him know your new address. Stay safe, good for you for getting out.

As a retired divorce attorney, based on experience, I agree with RN16 and Shirfleur, move out while he is at work, and have your attorney arrange service of the divorce complaint via constable. The most dangerous time in this situation is the parting.

Since he is always at home, take someone with you when you move out. Preferably someone he can't intimidate if you think he might get physical with you.
