Thanks. That was a few weeks ago. The northeastern corner of the route along Foxen Canyon Rd is currently on fire. Gorgeous wine country though.

I need to buy a road bike because I really want to do a triathlon, but I hate the idea of riding on a road 🤦‍♂️

Modern road bike geometry should be able to fit decent sized gravel tires at least 35mm wide which would be fine on many forest service roads. I ride some gravel, but ride a lot of rural pavement. I get the downside of road riding, but some places like the PCH people are driving slow and taking in the vibe just as much as you are. I make maps and spend way to much work time trying to find dirt roads to take my bicycle. I opted for a gravel specific but cross shopped with endurance road bikes because of the frame builder and material. On the back side of my 40s, looking for aero positioning is an area of diminishing returns and I just want to be as comfortable as possible and enjoy myself, after all this is as much for my mental health as it is physical.

This absolutely outstanding. I haven’t been on my bike since I got injured in a car accident last year, but I plan to get back on right now. I’m just trying to get strong doing the stationary at home so hopefully this will inspire me to get out there well done absolutely amazing.👏👏👏👏

The 1800's brought trains to small towns all across the great plains to pick up beef for Chicago from the great cattle drives north out of Texas. Mostly long abandoned train routs have now been repurposed into hundreds of miles long bike routs crisscrossing the entire length of Kansas. The formerly near abandoned little towns along the way that were built and flourished long ago as cattle drive trail heads have found new life in those bike paths. They are called Rail Trails. Rail Trails are far free of automobile traffic in the distant countryside across old train bridges and open fields. Coffee shops, dinners and curiosities have come to life all along the old train routs from the biggest to smallest of cities and towns. Most people ride Colorado to Missouri about 500 miles winding across the entire state of Kansas starting at a 4,000-foot and ending at a 500-foot elevation. Long distance bicycle riding is growing into a major thing in this part of the country.

It kind of looks like the US. Lol

It wasn't what I was going for when I planned the route but I noticed that when I finished the ride! Just left out Florida, so you might say an improved version of the USA. Sorry, I had to.
