So guys... for those that don't know, this is what body dysmorphia looks like and it is a very common component of eating disorders.

So far I've only noticed this once in here, but it's been brought to my attention that there are multiple members of our community suffering with this.

It's nice to be supportive... who doesn't love support right? But... We need to be supporting the right things like being healthy and alive. When someone is obviously sick, cheering on their continued weightloss is a recipe for disaster. When you cheer on weightloss in someone with body dysmorphia you are mentally reinforcing in their mind that they are doing the right thing and really do need to lose weight... but that weightloss is never really enough. It's a slippery slope into dangerville! We need to look after one another.

Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, I'm not talking about community members with legitimate weight to lose that are doing intermittent fasting.
There's a HUGE difference between fasting and anorexia.

I will say however that I really feel IF can be dangerous with individuals with a history of eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia for the most part. It's too triggering for relapse or offsetting binges. Just like you wouldn't have an addict use in moderation, ED peeps shouldn't fast. I'm no expert, this is from my own personal experience.

*this has been another rambling pain in the ass Christine post* lol carry on...

thank you knuckles, I send my best to you! ......pan! it definitely sucks!!!! sorry you are in pain too. ..... Debra is right! ... maybe not everyone will respond to being called out... but some might and could be saved. maybe it being indirect won't be as intimidating and maybe they will have a light bulb go off and get help...... that's what matters, awareness and getting help.... and knowing someone... anyone, actually cares

Awesome post, Christine, those slippery slopes are often hard to recognize. You're doing a great job and set a fantastic example for everyone! Hunter and Knuckles, the pain sucks, I've had a few instances of chronic pain I couldn't get addressed because of financial issues, but nothing like what you guys are talking about, it's ridiculous that doctors can't/won't in a lot of cases, but when you can't even get to a doctor because of monetary restraints, yeah, just plain stinks and makes a person learn to live with a lot of things they shouldn't have to. Good vibes to everyone!

Great post and responses. I am both a friend and foe to slippery slopes.

Thanks Philmck, and chesgreen. We all have our "things" and struggles. It's nice to know we're not alone and aren't "less than" because of them.

What a brilliant, caring, loving post, Christina, and an incredibly powerful image to go along with it! I really LIKE you! I don't know much about eating disorders, but I know a whole BUNCH about substance abuse, and it's all the same...filling the hole inside. Connection is the key to recovery, and your reaching out like that is just a beautiful thing. <3
