I have tried every diet that is popular. Still I have not been able to lose the weight. I got frozen shoulder last year after I started a low carb diet. The problem with my shoulder was so painful and left with me with no mobility I could not exercise or do anything. This left me very depressed. I gave up. Now I am dealing with menopause and I am having a very rough time with that as well. My arm has improved a great deal so I am back exercising, but it seems so hard. I don't know how to eat anymore. I have considered weight watchers but I do know what to do. I have gained a lot of weight in the last year. I will never give up trying. My metabolism seems to be very low. So I feel like it is going to take a very long time for me to lose 20lbs. That is my goal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I tried to say that I don't know what to do. I have tried a low carb diet in the pass but I did not lose weight so I gave up and brought all of that stuff back into the house. I like eating that way but I can't seem to lose eating like that maybe there was something I was not doing right. I did use stevia so I did not give up the sugar subs altogether. By the way thank you so very much for suggestion. I will do that. Especially getting rid of the sugars. Thanks

I agree with Ghostwritor, get rid of sugar AND sugar substitute. If you have to have something sweetned use local raw honey ..eat a square of dark chocolate per day. Increase your water intake, cut out bread every chance you get. If you order a burger, ask for it to be wrapped in lettuce or at least take one piece of the bun away. Eat salads, add anything you can think of to make it more interesting, walnuts, stawberries, beets, sunflower seeds, etc. use green leafy plants for the base of salad for the nutrition. Eat grapefruit daily. Keep vegetables cut up and ready to grab and go. Its amazing how filling a little bag of carrots and broccoli can be in the afternoon. Then once you get your eating on track start a daily exercise routine, try to do something for 10 min...next day 11,then 12 ect until you build up to about 30 min daily, it can be walking , jumping rope, jumping jacks, anything to just get you moving. Buy some cute workout clothes and make a big deal out of getting dressed for your workout each time. Best wishes on your path to healthy living.

Thanks so much for the advice it is very encouraging!!Will eating low carb really help? or should I just cut out sugars and bread and high starches? I need to follow something or I will eat anything. I will take this advice to heart as well.

I have heard not to cut out a particular food group..and I havent followed a particular diet, just really have concentrated on adding healthy foods which will eventually crowd out the bad. Stay away from all sodas, and processed foods.

Cut out sugars, starches and grains. Add in whole, clean foods, leafy greens and saturated fats. Low carb has to be below 20 grams per day. It does work, but you cannot cheat.....ever. You are either burning glucose, or you are burning fat. Never both.
