Well, I guess I had a binge. No, I KNOW I had a binge. I blame myself for letting my lizard brain take over in a big way. Sometime when you are in a situation that stresses you out beyond your normal levels, you reach back to what got you through it. For me, this was binge eating.

Your lizard brain remembers, "ahhh, yes, don't worry, I got ya covered. You can binge eat your way through this weekend so you don't have to feel anything."

I allowed it b/c frankly, I was tired of dealing with it. But now I am sure my blood sugar is through the roof. My stomach hurts. I am going to gain water weight and maybe a real pound or two. Those are the consequences.

I recorded the food. I faced up to what I did. I stopped eating. Now I just need to continue on. There are only two choices: beat yourself up and quit or pick yourself up and continue. I choose to continue and try to recognize the situation in the future and choose a different response.

I will be here for 2 more full days so I have plenty of time to practice.

What a bummer. :(

Hunger is a curious concept, I think most modern Americans have never really known true hunger which a different thing than merely wanting to eat. Important distinction, I could eat for the want of it pretty much non-stop, and that's not healthy behavior. Once a day, tops, is all anyone really needs to eat, and even that is on the boundary of gluttony.

@LadyinDenim, I was saying my binges were not hunger related either. Sorry if you misunderstood....

Rckc, I think we have a similar pre binge experience - - the "I don't give a flying frisbee, I want the thing." Erika was looking me right in the eyes and asking me what would satisfy me when I felt bingey that would be on plan. I rolled my eyes because I thought it was a moot question. She stressed FAT. I said, "but I'm not hungry, I just want to eat." She stressed FAT. So, I tried it because I had nothing to lose and I was fresh off of Dairy Queen and organic halloween candy. I was in danger of staying off plan indefinitely. I tried it. It worked.

Just be careful. You will only lose weight with high fat if you are also eating low low carbs. Greek yogurt is too carby in any quantity. For a creamy high fat alternative try sour cream. If you mix high fat with higher carbs, that's a recipe for weight gain not loss. With LCHF we need to be consistent. Otherwise we're undermining the fat burning metabolism. I had a LCHF holiday during my mini-vacation this weekend (not bad food, just higher carbs- squash, carrots, rice) , so I'm going to have to get fat adapted again. I haven't been so consistent recently and it has slowed down my losses. This is not news to low carbers. I know I'm not alone in slipping out of ketosis due to social off program eating. Back to it: a new week begins for me!

I hear ya - I am back from my parent's house. Got home at 4 am. Was eating chips the whole way...feel gross. Back at it clean and starting a new week. I have learned to deal with rough situations better but this one was beyond my skill set. I am not going to gain back my 40 pounds!!
