I was just wondering - there are a lot of people on here who have been up and down the scale many time, like I have. Do you find, or have you been told your personality changes with your weight, if it does - how and how much? I noticed when I am really heavy I am not happy, miserable would be more the word. Then when I get down to the "right weight" for my height, I tend to be tired and I feel week.

I've found over the years, about 10 lbs. over my "suggested BMI weight" is when I feel my best and am happiest.

What are your feelings on this?

I don't really put too much credence into this BMI nonsense. It just doesn't take into consideration LBM or muscle. Maybe you feel the happiest at the weight which is 10 lbs over your "suggested" BMI because that is probably where you should be? If one listens to his/her body closely it will tell you where you should be or where you shouldn't be. I've never been told my personality changes; I've been happy and confident overweight (was never obese) as well as thin. What wasn't happy was my body in regards to lugging excessive weight around + menopause and it was telling me get the weight off NOW. What changed was the way that I view food and I started listening to my body closely. When you feel good in your skin you are happy.

If you're miserable at the "ideal" weight, then it's not ideal for you. We are so much more than what we weigh! Find what feels good, that you can live with, and be there. I've worked hard at knowing and loving myself, no matter what I look like. Other people's opinions of my appearance matter not one whit. The crux of the matter for my way of eating is how I feel. The weight loss is just a side effect.

when at my heaviest I barely felt like a human, looking back.... now I have more confidence. still have a ways to go... happiest I remember being with my body was when I was 160 pounds

If that extra 10 lbs. makes you feel better and you're happy there then that's were you belong! Charts aren't the answer to everything.
