I'm feeling a bit defeated today. But, still determined not to give in!
First started out my day realizing I am basically out of my protein shake. I decided to go ahead and make some eggs and a veggie sausage. Bought some "egg starts" from Costco last night and decided they are pretty good.
After realizing I had no protein powder and that I needed to make breakfast, my 17 yr. old son decides to tell me we have parent teacher conference tonight, which totally messes up my plans for working out right after work. On top of that, the dinner I had planned to make in the crock pot required a 24 hr. marinade so had to quickly decide what I was going to do in it's place.
My morning routine was kind of shot to hell. I am a person who operates best by pre-planning and organization. Having breakfast, dinner, and work out plans messed up kind of made me feel off balanced today.
I did eat a decent lunch, but it was a spontaneous "let's see what we have in the fridge today" kind of lunch. I ended up not liking what I made but had to eat, feed the baby and dash back to work.
It's time to head off to the parent/teacher conference, of which I'm not looking forward to. Our son hasn't been applying himself, where school is concerned, for MANY years. He's a junior in high school and still doesn't have it together. This year is the first year I've "let go" of his responsibilties and haven't taken it as a personal reflection of my parenting skills. However, it's hard to know how to respond to teachers who think we actually have an influence on how our son performs in school. He goes to a specialty school for art. The curriculum and independance they give the kids is totally different than regular public school. Sadly, he can't handle the freedoms they give him. In any account, I must go and act as though I know what the hell I'm doing.
Tah tah!

lol You can do it, honey! You can only take on your own responsibilities, not your sons! Chin up, and back up in that saddle, Chicca! You can do it!! :)

Think of this Miteslur; Ive had many great pating jobs, have one now...I know many people who DO have great careers and jobs. Not once was I or my friends asked in a job interview, "Did you apply yourself in highschool?" In fact, we were never even asked for our diplomas. We're here for you. All you can do is the best you can do, the dishes will still be there tomorrow and no ones grading you anymore! We're pulling for you!

I think young people look around and sometimes understand more about what's going on than they let on. Instinctively, they must ask themselves if doing things in the traditional way is really worth it. They try to get out of it somehow. Lot's of problems and sometimes no one is at fault. We live in heady times...
