Walked at a lively pace on the treadmill for 1 3/4 miles this morning. I had gotten into a rut of only doing aerobic activity on my "run" days. Bad juju! I don't want the stress of the pounding that results from running on back to back days, so until I can get into the swimming or cycling, I'm just going to make sure I at least walk at a fairly rapid pace for 30 minutes on the days I don't run.
It's been tough trying not to indulge, not only because of stress, but sometimes just because of boredom. But now I am able to get out and get things done without worrying about whether she needs anything or not. And with all those wonderful people bringing all that great food, well . . . let's just say, I forgot myself. Getting back into the groove. Looks like I've got a number of options to bring for lunch now. Although the food I have to choose from would not be my normal choice for a diet of moderation, if I watch my portion sizes and try to maintain some semblance of balance between carbs, proteins and fats, I think I will be all right.
My wife is doing great; she wants to sleep more than usual, and I let her. She has been a pretty good patient. It's actually truly remarkable. Following other surgeries, she has been an absolutely horrible patient - both in and out of the hospital. It seems that, following this surgery, her pain is more soreness than anything else, and the worst of that is over. We know that she is going to experience a great deal of tiredness when she goes through the daily radiation treatments, but she'll spring back from them when it is over. We are looking forward to getting out and enjoying some great scenic adventures this summer. Well, that's all for now. Thanks for giving an ear to my ramblings.

So glad that wifey is making progress. Sleep is good for her right now. Don't sweet the meal options. Sounds like you are taking control with the portions and that is the way to go. Let the workouts take care of the rest. Have a great day.

So very pleased that you are finding yourself again and paying attention to portion control and exercise throughout this hectic time.. I'm glad your wife is 'behaving' as a patient and taking the down time that she needs and deserves - can't wait for her to be completely out of the woods and done with treatments! Don't forget to tell each other how much you love each other every day...

I ditto Trublu. You're stll cognizant of what goes in and with everything going on thats a great achievement. Praying for your wife to regain her strength quickly so that you can make great new memories soon.
