I would say be patient. I know its hard. I went through the same thing, only mine has tapered down to one pound a week. I have to keep telling myself that at least I'm losing. I was hoping to be down by a lot by now, but Im only down by 20...so youre doing better than me :). Hang in there, youre still losing pretty quick.

wow - 19 pounds in three weeks is incredibly fast! Drinking the water daily will help, too. They say drink enough in ounces daily to equal half your body weight.

Amanda, I am not sure that Atkins is what you should do with the Adapex. Have you talked to the doc about that. You need to eat a lot of fat and protein on Atkins (as you already know), and that is hard to do if you are taking an appetite suppressant. Hang in there girl...you know how this goes! HUGS!

I agree with Stef. Adipex is phentarmine hydrochloride, an appetite suppressant and central nervous system stimulant, typically prescribed for a limited time to prevent addiction. Its chemical properties are similar to amphetamines, so it's no wonder you feel the energy rush. Be sure to watch yourself.....the stuff can be dangerous for some. Someone on one of these forums was looking for a non-prescription alternative and others chimed in, relating their experiences on this drug. Be careful.

Thanks guys, I will be careful. I didn't take it yesterday and I actually got a nice restfull sleep last night. I don't feel like I am addicted to it but my dr is very generous with it. He prescribes 60 pils a month - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. He does that because insurance doesn't cover it so I can stretch it longer. I take 1/2 a pill around 11am everyday so I don't take much of it at all and it wires me up. I can't imagine taking 2 whole ones a day.
Thank you Stef!! I do know how this goes. lol I should be an expert by now. If only I would stay on it. I am actually thinking I will get the book again and re-read it. People ask me questions and I don't really know the answer because I haven't read it in so long. All I can tell them is what works for me but I am a picky eater so there is so much more out there that I forget about. My hubby is at it again too and he was asking me if he could have onions, cucumbers, and radishes and I wasn't sure. I thought so but I wasn't really sure because I don't eat those. I'm going to order the book again on e-bay.

I think re-reading the book is an excellent idea. And yes, hubby can have all those, just not in copious amounts. Glad that you aren't taking much of the Adapex. I have never had much luck with any kind of "diet" pill myself. There is just no magic pill...only dedication and hard work for me. Have a great day!

I am going to buy it on e-bay. I like my old book "Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution" but I don't know where it is. I would like to get "Atkins for Life" too. Have you read that one? Do you think it's better or just the same as the other one?
