According to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10837292 , day 4 of a fast produces heightened levels of adrenaline in the body. Am going to try straight up extended fasting to get this effect as well as dropping metformin as to not trigger hypoglycemia or stomach issues while fasting.

Sidenote, I am taking a daily dose of vitamins and electrolyte supplements while doing this for anyone who is interested in a safe, effective fast.

I don't know anything about long term fasting but I do hope that you are taking care of yourself and that if it can be done safely you are doing what is needed.

Good luck to you! I've done a 4 day fast, kept up on my electrolytes, and felt really pretty good. Listen to your body and if you need food sooner, take it. If not, go the 4 days. Make sure your magnesium and potasium are kept up. Also re introduce food slowly and start with something mild like broth or yogurt. Maybe you've already got that info and know what your first meal will be :-) Enjoy the experience!

Experiment away and document everything. You will learn during and after this process.

Thank you everyone, I will certainly be documenting as much as I can as well as being careful on how to eventually break the fast.

Wow, the NIH is covering the fasting topic! Agreed with Chesgreen, and monitor your glucose carefully.
