Has anyone had problems with FS underestimating their calories burned? According to FS (if 3500 cals equals 1 pound) I should only have lost 10lbs but I’m down 20... I just don’t want to consume too few calories and slow my metabolism. Every online RDI calculator is different...some say I should consume about 1400 cals for moderate weight loss while another says less than 1200? (I average about 1350 a day) anyone know an accurate place to find my RDI and how to know what I’m actually burning each day because FS seems off??

Thanks glen! I guess my main concern is I will drive my metabolism down by having too much of a deficient and make things harder in the long run.

momma6224, you are wise to be concerned that too much of a deficit will slow your metabolism down. That is exactly what happened to me when my first husband past away. I was eating healthy and at the weight I'm trying to get back to now. When he died, I had NO appetite. Ate just enough to function. When I started to recover and felt like eating again, the weight came on quickly! I looked back at my journal from that time and then a year later when I started to try and lose again and was shocked to see I had gained 20 pounds in less than a year! Over the next 2 years, I gained another 20, due to poor habits, going back to school and long distance dating. Don't even get me started on the "over 40" metabolism! I'm desperately trying to get my body back where it needs to be before I hit 50 this year! I have actually had success when I increase my calories a little, then lower them again. You will just need to try a few things to see what will work best for you. Just don't go below 1200. It's unrealistic and not healthy at all!

I met with a nutritionist and developed a plan for me based on activity. I use the nubbers here as a guide .

Oh, one other thing. We all have that magic number that we want to be at. But maybe we shouldn't get too hung up on that number. You have already lost 20 pounds, which is fantastic!! Don't sweat over those last 7. I know I have already decided that if I only make it to say, 125 instead of 120, that I'm going to be ok with that. Because I will have gotten myself out of the overweight category and lost fat and improved my health. Celebrate what you've already accomplished!

I think it depends on your metabolism.
