Well. I’m back again 😓 I really need to get myself back in the game. I was doing so well, but then I always do so well at the start. It’s easy to feel motivated when lifestyle changes are fresh. But later on I start to slip. I make excuses and it’s a slippery slope! From what I have learnt about myself I have two main problems though.

Motivation is hard to maintain long term. At the start the weight flies off and I feel great! But after that initial flurry, my body settles into slow and steady weightloss. I know slow and steady wins the race, but when you go from losing 2kg a week to losing 0.5kg it can (for me at least) become frustrating and disheartening.

I also over complicate things. I tend to try a totally new way of living. Exercise plans and diets that are vastly different from my usual lifestyle, and can be complicated when trying to work them into my family’s schedule. I think I need to just keep things simple. Eliminate foods that are obviously bad for my health and replace them with better, but simple options. Find an exercise plan that works well with my busy schedule- and most importantly stop making excuses and stick to it!

I don’t have a set of scales at the moment, I will replace them soon enough. But for now I just know my clothes aren’t fitting the way they could be fitting, I’m less fit and mobile than I was this time last year, and I don’t look or feel as healthy as I have in the past. So change is needed-once again.

So in the spirit of keeping things simple. I am going to focus on 4 things as a starting point.
1. Create a regular sleep routine to try to help myself get at least 8 hours per night. This includes no screens for an hour before bed.
2. Drink more water. I’ll keep a water bottle with me so it’s always easily accessible and will serve as a reminder to actually drink it!
3. More more. Park further away from the shops and walk there or take the stairs instead of the elevator. And also go for regular walks in the evenings. I’ll plan for 5 days a week at the start and see how I go with it.
4. Bring lunch with me to work, rather than buying lunch out. This will mean less fast food.
