A month ago, when I decided to get serious about losing weight again, a single up-down seemed like an unsurmountable feat. I felt weak, sluggish, fragile, and I cried a bit when I bent over because the belly that stopped me from reaching my legs felt like a foreign object.
Yesterday, I did 40 up downs, along with 60 squats and 60 knee push ups. When I finished I was sweaty, exhausted, and sore, but oh so happy. And my belly, and by all means, it is still there, feels more like a part of me now. Wether it goes or stays, I don’t care so much, because it doesn’t stop me from becoming better.
Yesterday I was reminded that I’m not doing this to see a number on the scale. I’m doing this to be healthy, and strong, and capable. I’m doing this so my daughter has long years of a solid shoulder to lean on.
