Had our folksfest start today in town and our boss let us go an hour early to go to the opening ceremony and keg tapping. We all dressed up in our Bavarian Tracht (traditional clothes), so I wore my "Dirndl" dress. Sure enough... as soon as I got out of the car, it started pouring rain. We did have a good time, though. Loved the D.J., who played some catchy tunes. It also helped that we had a good crowd at the table. Food-wise,I did a little planned side-step and had a Langos (which is hungarian dish, where you have a hot deep-fried bready thing as a base, then you spread some garlic butter on it, some spicy sauce, and then they cover it with salami, shredded cheese and a bit of yoghurt sauce or sour cream. I'm not sure what it was, but the whole thing was fabulous. You only get those at these fests, so I wanted to have one before we leave Germany again.
I almost wanted to buy a diet coke, too, (I'm on the no soda challenge), but I changed my mind and drank bubbly water instead. 3 little bottles of it... So, I'm proud of myself that I didn't give in to any of the fest yummies, the sodas, and the beers (I had to drive home and go to work tomorrow, so nix on the beer). Also, dirndls fit kind of tight around the middle, so I really didn't want to eat much anyway. Hmmm, maybe running around in tight clothes will help with cravings...lol
Oh, for lunch today I got a little salad from the commissary and had the lady at the deli cut me some turkey breast to put on. This salad was a ton cheaper and fresher than the ones I get at Subways. I think I'll start going there to get my lunch and bring it back to the office to eat. All in all it's been a very good week so far.
