Losing weight can be ‘addictive’ (for a lack of a better word). I started taking my weight loss journey seriously at the end of January 2022 and from then to now I have lost 21,4kg. I have finally reached my weight loss goal, but over these past few days I’ve been so obsessed with pushing for 60kg, which was never part of the initial plan.

In all of this, I have not had the opportunity to reflect and marvel at how far I have come; to look myself in the mirror and appreciate the transformation that my body has gone through over a period of 8 months. I have not allowed myself to fully enjoy the growing feeling of confidence; perhaps because I feel like I can still look even better. Most importantly, I have not given myself any credit for starting this journey and finally seeing it through, for the very first time in 3 years.

Now it just feels like I’m punishing my body for all the weight it had gained over the years. And now that I’m conscious of this I acknowledge that I really need to give myself a break…

I can totally relate, weight loss and calorie counting has become my addiction, and instead of being happy with my progress I am constantly tryng to better it. I almost feel like I will never be happy with the number on the scale, well done for your progress and best of luck with your journey forward🤗

Thank you for sharing🫶🏽 Being overweight/obese can really damage one’s self-esteem; and when you finally shed all that weight off you don’t want to see yourself back there again. And that’s where the obsession creeps in. That on its own can become unhealthy; very detrimental to one’s own mental health. However, with this self-awareness, I hope we can come to terms with the fact that our happiness and contentment with ourselves will not come from the number on the scale. All the best❤️

thank you so much for sharing ❤️. When I lost 30kg in 2019, after I achieved my goal, I struggled to maintain the weight and eventually gained it all back. I'm inspired to read that I was not a unique case and hoping to do better this time around. Being kind to myself has been my saving grace this time around! All the best!

I completely understand where you’re coming from.🫂 Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to look a certain way. What’s most important is your progress. Celebrate your victories, no matter how small🌸

Well done. My goal was 10kg but was so into it I lost another 8kg...the job now is to keep it off. And calorie counting has become part of my daily routine.
