Dropped close to another lb, which is surprising since I didn't exercise yesterday. I still did the dog walking, house cleaning & decorating, though. Got the meal plan done, gonna probably have lots of leftovers for lunches & stuff. Calories will be reasonable, with a fair amount of veggies. The cost of groceries have gone up considerably, which is affecting my meal planning. I used to look for tasty recipes & shop accordingly. Now I look in the freezer to see what I've already got & meal plan accordingly. A few weeks ago, hubby found a sale on pork steaks & bought a fair amount. Today he bought some roasts that were on sale. I know how to make pot roast, but I'm not sure what to do with pork steak. Something I'll need to look into next payday. Also, I find I'm buying more frozen veggies instead of fresh, partially to cut down on food waste. I hate throwing out veggies that went bad before I cooked them. So, what is anyone else out there doing to save money on groceries?

Expanding your recipe repertoire always makes sense to me because then you can make something with almost anything you can find. A lot of bean recipes that combine with veggies is inexpensive, I think. Buying whole chickens and cutting them up, roasting the backs and then saving them for stock is something I do. I wrap them in freezer paper, date them and then boil 3 backs at a time throughout the colder months to make a base for mirad soups... meat and snack food/drinks are most expensive, it seems... so limiting those is always a good idea. ❤

Grill the pork steak til it’s crispy the fat melts out and it’s very good.

Groceries are so expensive. I'm always looking to see what I have that I can just add one or two ingredients to make a meal.

Simmer the pork steaks with sauerkraut... they mimic pork ribs and flavor the sauerkraut. A wonderful meal!!
