Good to be able to talk to the Doc that did the procedure instead of one that's just reading a chart. Very glad to hear you're doing better Daddy M and on your way to enjoying the summer with your family ✨

Exercise will increase HDL, so it's good he recommended cardio. I hope he sent you home with actual numbers on those Lipids (Total, LDL, Triglycerides, HDL) and A1C results. What's your diet look like now, since due to genetics you have to be extra attentive in keeping the trigs & LDL low?

Good to know you’re recovering. Was there any symptoms that you noticed leading up to it?

Just wondering how they decided your low cholesterol is genetic? Did they do the Blood test for that.

How bad are we talking? My HDL was 39 on January 1st. LDL 121, Total 178 & Trigs 85. This was after my horrible binging in December from a death in the family. My numbers are usually better, but HDL generally stays in low 40s.

Daddy, I’m the opposite of you my ldl cholesterol is very high but I’ve been able to get my hdl to a good number. Were you on cholesterol meds? Im genetically predisposed to high cholesterol since a teen. Been fighting to stay off meds. Did you know prior to heart event?m. Im so glad you had no damage. You just follow what those docs say to protect your heart. Bigger isn’t better if damage inside. Sounds like you agree. Best wishes. Have a full recovery.

I thought I posted this yesterday but apparently I did not.
HDL (good) is 28 average is above 40
LDL (bad) 115
Will be on cholesterol meds for pretty much forever. Doc would like the bad number as low as possible forever as I’ve had one attack and because good is so low. Will be eating more fish (yeah!) to help the good number go up, and other foods too.

What is the triglycerides number? That also has to stay low, as it is the partner in crime with LDL. Fish is good! Much healthier and leaner than fast food and red meat.🐟

I'm assuming he wants you on a Statin? These numbers aren't the whole picture, and more information is needed. Without having a cardiac event, these two numbers aren't alarming. Just make sure you research everything and ask questions. Statins, like all drugs, have side effects.
