Avatar is of my old cookie jar. It's about 65 years old. I love it. I still remember it from when I was a kid. It was given to my mom when she got her first apartment at 17. I'm so happy to have it safely in a cabinet here at home now. It's finish has crazed a bit inside. Suggestions on sealing it inside? I heard simple white glue will seal it and safeguard it some. Mom used to say "You have to ask me if you want a cookie because the cookie jar is watching." That actually explains some things now.

Weight still slipping since I got back home. Hoping to keep that trend going.

That's a cool looking cookie jar. No advice on how to seal the crazing, however now I want a cookie. Weight going in the right direction, very nice. :)

We're the same. Stuff for the sake of stuff isn't our thing, but we have the jar, I have a few lead balls from a .36 black powder revolver my dad and I owned. WE, too, have an old rocking chair that I recently had to repair. My wife's mom was an artist so we have some of her work... just bits and pieces though and things that were close to us. Things that are more 'of' them than from them. Having said that, I need to clean out the basement.

You know I love the cookie jar but I have a question. Was the cookie jar painted to resemble a cartoon character from that era? It is so unique.

I doubt it. It said 'Italy' on the bottom in hand printing. :) Maybe we should call it Guiseppe?

I don't know anything about reglazing, but I would suggest taking it to a shop that specializes in that. I read recently that the Chinese used to repair cracked and broken dishes with liquid gold, making the item even more valuable as it aged. You might even check that out.

I wondered if it might be Pinocchio, but he would need to have a pointed hat, and would also be more child-like. Would be worth getting an expert to have a look at it.

I enjoy the occasional museum visit now and again (to appreciate 'fine art'), but we've all got our own 'priceless' heirlooms to cherish in our very own homes . . .
