Perhaps you should make something that you could bring with you to your mother's house to put on top of the candy bowl that would make you pause before reaching in for a treat. I am seeing a paper plate decorated with pictures that represent your goal or perhaps a before picture, whatever might motivate you.
I struggle with candy calling my name too. I have found that if I can delay responding to the initial craving, I can avoid giving in (sometimes :) ).

They are everywhere! My Mom always had a candy bowl out too. I just steered clear of it. I even had to buy the candy for it, which was mostly chocolate.
