Chalking up today to a "personal day"!!

It's funny, but I actually first heard about "taking a personal day" from a student!! I've never heard of taking these, nor have I taken them as a employee, let alone ever as a student! But, in order to feel like today wasn't a complete loss work-wise, I'm writing it off as a work-free, personal-priority related day.

Went to sleep last night at 9.30/10 pm or so, and slept in until 11 am this morning!! Decided to work from home, but had to face more student- and work-related drama through emails/phone calls! So, after a couple of hours of wasted energy on it, I decided to just quit even TRYING to do any productive work. I thought I'd just go do a good workout instead. I called a friend, and turns out she was about to go biking as well. So we met up and went for an hour-long walk instead (a little leisurely pace than usual, but at over 2 miles, it wasn't bad, and also, beautiful day outside, so worth appreciating it--even if at a rambling pace).

After the walk, I made plans to do something fun with her later, and then came back home and went to the gym for a "real" workout. Did 40 mins. of elliptical (more calories than usual, 3758K), then some weight-lifting (Chest, shoulders, and biceps), and then 20 mins. of stationary bike (98K)--all of which added to 2 hours, so today I've done total 3 hours of exercising!! Been drinking plenty of water--in face, 2 liters was used up right in the gym!!

Came back home, and prepared dinner before going out. So, had my protein mix, sliced two tomatoes and drizzled some EVOO, basil, and reduced fat feta crumbles. Also had a beet (delicious!), and am about to eat a cup of lentil soup (very low cal!). So with all these high-fibre and protein foods, I should be in good shape to avoid eating any bad stuff out tonight. Just in case, I'll pop a string cheese in my purse, if I get the munchies later.

So, yeah, in conclusion, today has been a sleep-recovery, workout, and TGIF fun day--no work done, but I can try to catch up over the weekend. I do feel good at having worked out consistently ALL week long.

Food so far:
Brunch: 2 servings edamame (4)
Healthy choice grilled panini (6)
Healthy choice icecream sandwich(2)

Rice cake (1)

Post-walk snack:

Dinner: protein mix with soy milk (2.5), Tomatoes with olive oil (1), basil, and feta (0.5), 1 beet (0), and lentil soup (2)

Great work on the 3 hours exercise for today! I really liked the idea of a personal day... I think sometimes we forget to take time for ourselves, but it sounds like you have a wonderful day. Hope you have a fantastic weekend and keep up the great work! :o)

So proud of you! Some people spend their personal days holed up in bed under the covers, but yours was healthy for mind, body and spirit! I love the just-in-case string cheese - in French Women Don't Get Fat, she carries a small bag of nuts in her purse, and calls it her 'en cas.' Make sure you allow yourself extra points for the extra calories used in THREE HOURS of exercise. The diet and exercise calendar has really helped me to learn that my perceived ideal 1200 cals a day is okay if I do nothing, but even days of standing/pacing teaching, I can go up to 1500 and still have a net deficit large enough to lose over a pound a week. Days I workout, I use nearly 3000 calories, so even eating 2000 is okay! Hope you had fun last night!
