I have a Reese's peanut butter cup cheesecake in my oven... right now. Pretty sure I gained a couple pounds just making it lol. Speaking of which I am actually up a couple pounds, this probably has a great deal to do with my strength training yesterday, no big deal.

SOOOO I have spent the last four days preparing for my husbands birthday tomorrow. Got my tamale filling all done for his dinner, and cheesecake in the oven today for dessert.... only for my in-laws to make plans to take us out to dinner tomorrow night. OMG. It was supposed to just be my MIL taking us out, which was very nice of her so how could I say no. Now it's her and my brother in law, plus his fiancé. We will have tamales another day, so it's not the biggest deal, but I really hate family get togethers, they make me nauseous. If nothing else it's a school night, so there will not be any loitering. Guess I'll be taking one for the team lol. Now I have to plan what I'm going to eat tomorrow. I might be up a few on Friday weigh in lol. There's only so much one can do. Pray for me!

You are such a good wife. If our dear darlings knew how difficult making them sweets can be - they would surely appreciate us more. :) I have to pick up donuts and cakes and stuff for mine and then he is always asking me to back something or another. I try to do the baking at my gransmothers house (where I work when I am at home) in order to not smell up the house with all the goodness. often in the evening, I am at my weakest so not having the smells is best. I generally can handle watching him eat in front of me but to be honest, when it is something that I like and that I cooked, it is hard. Case in point - he is asking for a pecan pie. I really dread having to do that cause I love them too. But I am planning to roast some pecans for me when I do it and maybe I will not feel so left out. Family stuff is so hard. You are very lucky that it is a school night. As you said, they won't stay long. Sometimes, I just tune them all out. I sing to myself in my head really loud so i don't hear anything that is being said. Maybe you can do something like that to get you through the evening. Sending prayers your way :)

Oh the things we do for our hubbies!! If they really ever knew!!! There is a convoluted, mixed up mess with my brothers in law and their significant others, and my DH ex. lol!! Two of my BIL hooked up with two of my DH ex's sisters. lol!! Needless to say, they really don't like me much!! I think they will like me even less when they see me at Thanksgiving!! lol!! They have no idea that I've lost this weight!! As for your planned dinner with your hubby, just have it a day later, or on saturday!! I know you will get through the evening with style and grace!!! Praying for you!!! :-)

Chin up girl when it comes to the in laws. As for your hubby, he probably appreciates what you do for him more then his family. You get along with your MIL which is all that matters! The cheese cake sounds divine! Enjoy your portion!!

Thank you Alex, I do try!! When given the choice I never hold back Mike lol, but for the sake of peace in the family (for my husband) I always bite my tongue with the in laws. (holy paranoia I just edited my journal.. thanks lol) I don't mind the baking so much, of course this is the first year I'm doing it while watching my calories so we will see how it goes! Portion control is my mantra, which I will repeat thousands of times over the next eight weeks or so lol. Family stuff is hard, and like you Puma some of my family members (especially those mentioned above) are not my biggest fans. My SIL is less than thrilled now that I've managed to drop the weight, although probably was never my biggest fan lol. She used to make comments when my husband and I started dating, she always said she picked the wrong brother... classy right lol. I hope she doesn't have a profile here too Mike lol. That I am aware of, I am alone here and safe to share my thoughts freely.

Sounds like the catty Bull-malarky I have with my SIL. I have a completely filthy and vile nickname for her (there really arent enough bad words in the English language to describe how horrible this b%$#* is)and she is spitting nails since I started losing the weight. The only way I get through it is to fantasize she will move away, get committed, or finally drink herself to death. Family get togethers make me sick too.........I like to say "family" is the OTHER F-Word. :D

WOW, there surely are a LOT of family anger issues and problems within my small circle of FS buddies! LMAO Nice to know I'm NOT the Lone Ranger in that respect... ;)

Funny... we all thought we had the in-laws from hell. So very happy to be home with just the 3 of us for the day, but will have sons' friends the day after. Which is cool. Youth and virtual strangers to us make for a new experience.
