Trying to force myself to drink my entire half gallon water bottle everyday.. I just have a hard time making myself drink water. It’s actually very frustrating

It was the same way for me, but give it time and IT WILL GET EASIER TRUST ME. About a year ago I became determined to start drinking plenty of water each day and sticking to it.I bought myself a gallon water bottle and challenged myself to have it finished each night before I went to bed. Lemme tell you, IT WAS HARD! There were some says I felt like all I was doing was chugging water! But over time you get used to it, you just have to stick with it! And once developed, it's a habit that sticks with you! Despite every thing I've gone through over the past year (restricting, bulimia, BED) I always found myself drinking tons of water everyday. I went from struggling to drink 64 oz of water, to 128 oz. Nowadays I don't carry around a water bottle, I've sort of trained myself to drink water intuitively throughout the day (I've learned if you're thirsty, it's already too late your body is starting to experience dehydration). I also drink varying amounts of water, on some days I've found myself drinking over 200 oz (due to my daily activities or exercise). Based on my experience, the key is to just STICK WITH IT. Even if you feel like you've drunk so much water your stomach feels like a swimming pool lol. I did read some of your other journals mentioning ED's from which I too am still struggling with and I just wanted to say... when you first start drinking all this water, your stomach WILL NOT be flat anymore, especially if you aren't used to drinking water. The way I got through that was telling myself it was just a temporary stage, it was water-not fat. It also helped to tell myself that water has no calories, so there's no way I can be gaining actual weight from drinking it, it's all in my head! This was a really long comment, and I'm sorry about that haha, but I wish you luck with this goal, and I really hope you stick with it! Learning to properly hydrate myself was one of the most beneficial things I did! It also helped (and continues to help me) when recovering from binges or purges.

What helps me is using a straw! I would chug down with a straw an average two 16oz bottles or cups of water daily if I can’t reach my goal of 48oz. Hope this helps!
