For some reason I lost over 10 pounds, 2 inches off my bust, waist, and hips, and my A1c went up to 6.8 from 6.5! Very disappointed!😒I am still waiting on lipid panel results. Thinking I probably need to swap out some fruit for vegetables. I did eat a lot of fruit because the summer fruits are so delicious. Aiming for 2 servings of fruit paired with a protein and at least 3 servings of vegetables, preferably 5. We shall see again in three months. If my plan succeeds I will either be out of the obese category or very close. I am 20 pounds away from that. Not giving up, but, I won’t lie, it is discouraging. Pity party over, putting on my big girl panties.😜

I’m not exactly sue why you are disappointed? 10 pounds is still 10 pounds. Remember, as healthy as fruit is for you, it is still sugar and portion control an moderation have to be considered. It spikes your BS. Some fruits are lower on the glycemic index than others. Continue your exercise routine and/or try to take a bit of a walk about 30 minutes after you have eaten. That helps burn that glucose. Just don’t stop. Keep going

Not a nutritionist, but the losing inches is both a significant health indicator and also fun and motivating. Keep up the great work, Danana, and I hope you get the A1c figured out.

In addition to fruit, bread has a lot of sugar. So that bagel, the apple pie -- it all adds up. I believe the standard for diabetics is a limit of 20-50 carbs/day. It's yet another thing to track, but the good news is that you're already eating a lot of whole foods, so your fruit for veggie swap should be easy. I would just ditch the high glycemic items altogether (e.g. rice, potatoes, toast) for now and replace with a bed of spinach or greens. Who knows -- maybe you'll learn to prefer food that way! 💚

Was going to say pretty much what Erq said. I too try to stick to berries, apples and clementines. I will concede it's hard during summer cuz I love cherries, watermelon and peaches. You are doing great with weather ght! Don't lose hope, you got this!💜💜👍👍

I agree 😭 I love fruit too. seems so unfair to rearrange my entire day just to enjoy some blueberries in my smoothie. Like you, I try my best... 💚

I can't eat a lot of fruit and control my blood sugar. I have to watch starches too.

@ just bananas I already cut out processed food. That’s why I am so frustrated. I also exercise 30-75 minutes every day. It will work out. I think it’s just too much fruit.

Kenna I am disappointed because lowering my A1c is my main goal. I won’t give up.

You can do this!

Maybe you need an insulin pill 5 mg glipizide to help lower BS too.

Danana— you have to take a critical look at what and how much you are eating. All carbs are not created equal. Maybe see a dietician if you can. Do some serious reading to help you understand what diabetes is all about and the foods that are most likely to affect your BS. For you the calories in/calories out is not sufficient. Weigh your foods, know what you are eating.

Ask your Doctor about mounjaro

Moujaro Carrie’s a BLACK BOX WARNING for thyroid cancer. If you decide to ask your doctor about this drug be sure to address that with him specifically. There are any number of meds that can be used orally as a first line therapy. Keep working on diet control.

It sounds like you are trying to do a lot of healthy things. Don’t give up. I found meeting with a Dietition really helped me to reassess some of my dietary choices and improved my results

Thanks for all of the support and suggestions. I actually do know a lot about how to manage my blood sugar etc. I have a dietician and have done multiple classes. I just had a reminder that I don't have any wiggle room. I need to lower my sugar intake and increase my strength training. I will turn this around because I know how much to eat and what to eat. My body just let me know that I can't afford to be careless and I have learned my lesson. Luckily my A1c is still in a range that is considered well-controlled for diabetes, but my goal is to get out of diabetic range. Even with my overeating of carbohydrates I've still managed to consistently lose with my plan. Now I will get the carbohydrate balance correct and also lower my A1c. Best wishes to all of you on your journey!

3kids2: It went up to 6.8 and had previously been 6.5. I wish you were correct.
