They both connect with addiction receptors in your brain (opioid), which is why we find them hard to give up, but once you go through a withdrawal, it's much easier to live without them. Many people do an elimination diet, starting with carnivore, then adding back one thing at a time to find the things that are irritating symptoms or causing weight stalls. I gave up all grains and cut back to goat dairy, which is easier for me to digest. I'm a careful ketovore, sometimes carnivore. Very healthy with slow but steady weight loss at 69. I find if I let grains creep back into my diet, I just get hungry for more, so I'm better off without them. Carbs make me bingey and hungry.

Thankyou both. I've tried Ezekiel bread once I can't remember if I liked it but I'll have to try it again. Definitely very addictive.

I use lettuce leaves for bread replacement. If I eat a hamburger, I put all the (healthy) fixings and it is just as satisfying. You can use any filling this way. Cloud bread is also very good if you like to cook. It keeps well in the fridge. You can find recipes for it online.

VoiLife has great cheese options and Silk has dairy free yogurt that is delicious !! You just have to try other options and see what you like. Most grocery stores have some sort of healthy options. Sam's club has Keto bread. It's not tasty but once you put your "stuff" on it, it's actually not bad at all. It's all trial and error.

I haven’t found a gluten free bread worth the calories. I make my own with blended oat flour. I use that for muffins too. I also add protein powder to both to boost it. Corn tortillas are my flour replacement.

The problem with gluten free substitutes is that they are just as high in carbs. If I tell myself that it's better because it's GF, then I just get sucked into eating something that has a lot of carbs and very little nutrition. I do better just living grain free. And I don't miss them. Lettuce and Nori make very good sandwich wraps.
