Thought this was interesting... And although the peanut butter one grosses me out, I still love it. I've thought about making my own nut butters, seems easy enough, just haven't tried it yet.

Wow! This is pretty gross. Thanks for sharing. More reason not to eat that crap.

Gag!!! Thanks for the reminder on just how bad that stuff is for us. I used to make my own nut butter when my son lived with me (he had a Vitamix and you need a good hi-powered mixer like that to make it without burning out your motor). Absolutely delicious and guaranteed no fillers or preservatives.

I've got a nutribullet (which I love dearly) so I think it could handle it. I think what has been holding me back is the fear of messing it up, and I'd hate to waste nuts! When you made it, what type of nuts did you use? Did you have a favorite?

One more reason to buy a Vitamix.

I admit, I had to look up bacteriophage. Fast Food tastes good, makes you wonder how they make all that gross stuff palatable.

I'm highly concerned about the listed by Fast Food Junkies. I don't want to know why or how. Appetite has been lost, thank you.

Ewwww. I knew McDonald's was bad, but those chemicals I didn't know. So gross. I know fast food is convenient, but I can't understand why people want to put things like that in their bodies knowing how bad it is for them, no matter how convenient it is.

Jess... almond butter was our favorite. If I remember correctly, we just dumped raw almonds into the mixer and maybe added a tiny bit of himalayan sea salt. But I bet you could roast them first too for some yummy flavor.

Gaaaa-rosss: thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for that Jess, I did not know the little factoid about shellac on jelly beans, once upon a time those shiny Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans were my favorite snack. I called them my happy pills and carried them around in a zip-lock :) Well, those days are gone, I am not even the least bit tempted with candy anymore, I grabbed one of those soft after dinner mints from a restaurant back in January and it was so sickeningly sweet I almost gagged.

It's not actually shellac on the jelly beans, it's Carnuba wax. The same stuff in car care products to make your car nice and shiny. Equally toxic, though. :/

Nothing is pure anymore. Chemicals in the air, food and soil.

Well, the heart of my two year old grandson is pure. The Beatles said, "Love is all you need." Who am I to argue with John Lenin?

Referring to the air, soil and food.......not people.

I get it. I refuse GMOs, wash my hair and brush my teeth with baking soda, use Piper Wai deodorant and Dr. Bronner soap, buy organic dog food and use eco friendly dish soap and laundry detergent. I couldn't resist injecting a little love and hope.

I agree England, so many ppl want to eat organic and it's like well, your air and soul is not! lol. My humanities teacher brought that up a couple years ago and I never thought about until then.

Great information there, Jessberry! This diet thing can be so complicated it seems.

Yep, no matter how healthy we try to be, we can only do so much due to the pollution all around us. It's funny, even though I posted this yesterday, guess what I had for dinner? A hotdog. Yep, a hotdog, pumped full of nitrates and bacteriophages. At least it was all beef 😉
