Doing Keto? I'm a Keto newbie. Started 1 week ago. Loving it! Lost 8.5 Lbs in a week!!

Please tell me those are uncured, and nitrate free. Cured meats and nitrates cause colon cancer. Love the bacon fat, though!

@Jaspalding Yup, I'm doing Keto also! So exciting isn't it? :-D @Shirleylawson I know these aren't the healthiest option. I'm working towards making better food choices, but sometimes simplicity (and old comfort foods) win out. Always in moderation though! I appreciate the concern & info though! :-)

I am looking into keto as Optifast is so hard to keep up. Too much liquid, although for me it has worked to kick start. If you haven't already then checkout www.dietdoctor.com for some great ideas and some yummy keto recipes.

Hot dogs are processed and the eggs are loaded with cholesterol and animal-based protein. Plant-based, whole foods is the way to go.

Looks good however I am a diebetic and the hot dogs are processed food and bacon fat is not the best to use.

Eggs are our staple.

I was supposed to pick up hot dogs and sauerkraut this weekend but I forgot. Hopefully I'll remember after my exercise class tonight. :-)

@Iconer I'll definitely agree with you that the hot dogs were a "not-so-healthy" choice. But as for the rest of your statement we'll have to disagree. Eggs are one of the healthiest most nutrient rich foods you can eat. Look up the science behind the Ketogenic diet. Plant based isn't the way to go for me. Low carb, high fat (LCHF) is what works for my body.

eggs are loaded with cholesterol? Well no duh. Our bodies need cholesterol. Look up grain brain and read the book. get up to date on studies. eggs are natural, unprocessed and healthy......

Try the AppleGate sausages too. They make a great breakfast dinner.

@ApacheTiger37 Thanks...I'll check that out. I literally just found the AppleGate brand uncured pepperoni at Target tonight so I'll have to see if they have the sausages too. Trying to find/make better food choices...especially with meats. Glad to hear about these options! Thanks again!
