I did well staying on plan this week but there was lots of stress--let's just say financial and familial--which I think caused an increase in my cortisol, which translated to the weight stall. I also developed an infection on my lower lip that spread to my lymph nodes in my neck. I had to have IV antibiotics because the oral ones didn't make much of a dent. Lots of inflammation. Not making excuses, just explaining. Oh well, next week is another week...

Yesterday I had intended to do my usual fast of 40 hrs but I got hungry at dinner time last night and was headachey. I don't think I took in enough broth. When I got home my husband had the hot water on to make me broth (I love him!). I had a low carb protein bar and then felt better. My blood sugar was 81 so not low. I ended up having a chicken sausage and some spaghetti squash. Then it was 8 o'clock and the kitchen was closed...
This morning I feel a lot better. Will only have broth and coffee until lunch. This week I have a dinner meeting but it is at a seafood restaurant (Legal Seafood, a great restaurant with really fresh fish) and I think I will be okay. I think I might have lost the most on this week's office challenge.

Went back to basics this past week. Really watched my carbs and limited nuts and artificial sweeteners. Also flushed myself with fluids. I did end up staying with my 16:8 IF during the week but I wasn't that strict over the weekend. I also did my weekly fast from Monday night and it will go until noon today. I have been monitoring my fasting glucose in the mornings and I have been in the mid 70s to mid 80s. Ketones on my Ketonix meter are back up as well. I guess my metabolism is really screwed up and I really can't liberalize my carbs right now. Lesson learned!

We had a snow storm yesterday with heavy wet snow. Left work early and then at about 6:30 pm our power went out at home. Seemed to be just a local neighborhood thing, because everywhere else about a half mile in either direction had power. In any event, I was just about to cook dinner when it happened so my husband and I decided to go out. Ended up at Ruby Tuesday's where they actually have decent low carb offerings. We both got the same thing and ended up bringing home the left-overs. Power came back around 2:30 am. Not eating until 12 noon today. Thinking I will go back to the 16:8 IF as this had been the most successful method for me and I was not hungry. Today will be tough because the stress continues. Daughter has been hanging around making a mess and saying that she has no money ("somebody stole $120 from my purse at work..."). Supposedly using my computer to look for another apartment. I'm at work now mainly because it is quieter here and less chaotic. Husband went down to CT to visit his mom, do her finances, etc. He'll be back tonight. Later this afternoon I have to go to the wake of my office manager's 32 year old son... Trying to keep my stress hormones in check...

Again not sure what happened this week. Went out to dinner on Sunday evening to celebrate my husband's birthday but accounted for everything and only went over a little. On Monday in preparation for the fast day Tuesday, I ate right up to my limit but didn't go over. Fasted from Monday night 8pm until today at noon. Pretty good with my fluids this week. Under a lot of stress (22 year old bipolar/ADHD daughter ran out of lease but got a month extension and if she doesn't find something soon, she might want to move back in...this would be toxic...) but not giving in to temptation to eat sweets.
I really have to rethink everything and if I don't lose by this weekend, I might have to make adjustments. I might give up the 16:8 IF for a while and just stick to one 24 fast once a week.
