Crud. I truly don't know what I ate that was so salty. Had to eat away from home too much because I was volunteering at the WVIZ Auction. Maybe sitting at the bid table instead of walking around took its toll as well.

One pound is nothing. That could be gone in a heartbeat if it is fluid retention! Keep your chin up!

It's the sodium in the salt that you need to be watching. Salt is 40% sodium and 60% chloride. I was shocked when I started using this site as my food diary. It really gave a lot of insight into how much sodium I was consuming even though I thought it was an extremely healthy choice. Take Turkey Breast as an example. 1/4 lb Turkey breast is awesome in calories - very low 100s. BUT, in the same 1/4 lb Turkey, there is 1151 mg of sodium. That's a ton.

Sounds like just some more water retention! Nothing to worry about.

Snuffyrs is right! Sodium in super sneaky in our foods and it has a huge impact. Like her turkey example - think of cottage cheese. Healthy right? Except for the 800mg of sodium. I too have used this site to monitor my sodium as I have high blood pressure plus high levels mean water retention. The cure for THAT being - drink more water! Go figure :-)

Yup, water will extract the sodium which in turns releases the water through your urine. It's basically reverse osmosis. Your body will want to balance all liquids so the more water you put in, the more sodium it extracts and less sodium means less water weight. You can do this with anything really. Soak your turkey or other poultry in cold ice water and it will extract some of the sodium in the meat to create a balance.

Don't be too hard on yourself! I have high sodium as well and need to cut down on salt intake. There are 3 ingredients in every man made product to keep us hooked, salt sugar and fat!! Try and eat fresh produce and make your own sauces. This can reduce your sodium tremendously. ☆☆☆
