I gained 3-4 lbs over Christmas and took months to loose that, being ever so conscientious. So this is the 1st time I weighed in under previous low. It helps that I have been able to get outside and do yardwork to up the calorie use per day. That makes it easier to do a 500 calorie or so per day deficit. I need to do some 800 - 1000 calorie deficit days to get here. Now I need to hang on to this for a few days to cement it in. Tomorrow is restaurant breakfast with friends, so that's a challenge. Oh, and daily Metamucil and tuna salad is helpful. Fish is always high on the list when I manage a drop. Also, I have been eating bean salad and chili lately. Racheal Ray just had Dr. Li on TV who wrote book "Eat to Beat Disease". One cool study out of Toronto stated that 1 cup of navy beans, 5 X per week for a month not only smoothed out metabolism and markers of metabolic syndrome, I'm prone due to PCOS, AND they dropped an average of 1 inch of their waist. That's the toxic visceral fat around organs. I love studies and science related to foods. So, I'm making a big ol' pot of sugar free baked beans. I love them anyways. Other pulse also work, but the studies always talk about the resistant starch, that feeds the microbiome good guys in the gut, in white beans. Maybe I will actually bust through the 130 lb plateau that tends to hold me captive.
The days have been exceptionally emotional. I found out Feb 3 that I would become a grandmother. Huge burst of joy right??! I'll be 87, my husband 90 and my son will be 60 when this child is 20. This is a miracle child. We had grieved and given up the idea of this ever happening. She had been told she was infertile, and this had been her experience for 20 years. So they are reeling. Unfortunately the news came when they were in a precarious place as a couple. Dueling emotions, pain and joy, sorrow and anticipation. Nights are hard.
