Sorry for being missing in action yesterday, I was off 'on site' in the west of Ireland which meant that I had to drive around Galway Bay and places like Cong (where the Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O' Sullivan was filmed) so that was nice - I brought a lunchbox with hard boiled eggs and steak and kinda grazed on it till I got home when I had a lamb salad so it was a really well controlled low carb day.
God... I have not see ye all since Monday morning. But when I got home Monday night Sarah filled me in on what I was like in my drunken stupor on Sunday...which worringly I cannot remember!!! so no more getting blotto in future. Bribing nieces for hugs, making passes at my sister in law (but I've been doing that since I was 14yrs!) talking about boobies in front of my Mother (omg!) and generally being quite... davyish (ie loud and overbearing probably lol). My brother rang me laughing and asking how I was and told me how much I REALLY had to drink... Me Mam rang me asking me how I was saying that she thought I was hilarious! (what does that mean!) so. So again... be warned about the effects of drink "sneaking" up on ya when we are on our low carb low alcohol splurge! *bribing children for hugs - ohhh holy mother of thingy!!!*
Moment of realization yesterday... after years of just shovelling stuff into me gob on the run... I realized last night that I am tasting every last lil bit of food recently.. boring I know but wow.. all the same, love it! Really tasting it all (does that mean that I've finally begun to chew?)
Sarah and I had a 'moment' last night.. she is showing no loss on the scales for the last week or so (TOM and muscle gain - I would definitely say) however last night she tried on a pair of jeans that were just 'unbuttonable' a few months ago and all I could hear from the dressing room was "ohhh my god"!! and in fairness she looked fantastic in them.. so she tried another pair and another and the shock was profound, with many more chorus' of "Ohhh my god - I don't believe that I can fit in these".. so the scales do not tell the whole tale.. by the time she goes home to Yorkshire to meet her family in the summer, she'll be looking fab... but more than that her type one diabetes control is halved in terms of insulin and rock solid in terms of hypo's..
Ohhh... I finally found a place who think that they can provide us with broadband internet to our house.. have ordered it, so it should take bout 3 weeks.. then,god... then I'll have to try to explain to her why I keep asking to be keri's pageboy!! grins.. (we REALLY should make a soap opera bout this place..)

I've beens singing the same tune about the inches vs weight! It's definitely working. Even better that Sarah's diabetes is more manageable and she's in control. So funny about your behavior on Sunday, only wish I'd been there to witness it! Good job on eating yesterday, that lamb salad sounds good.

Congrats to the wifey!! I too am starting to realize that the scale often lies and inches matter more!! I would lOVE to have seen you drunk!! Keep up the great work Dave!!

I am so happy for Sarah...and tell her well done from all her soon to be buddies at fatsecret. Your drunk behavior just reminded why I dont drink..i dont want to miss out on people acting up when they are drunk..its way too funny to miss out on. Well at least you put a smile on a whole bunch of people..except the bribed kids..who are probably having nightmares about Uncle Dave!

Yeah for the new jeans!! lol Sounds like your drinking is a bit familiar with what tends to happen here, "once in a while". =D Awesome about being able to "taste foods", again, too! Keep on kickin' it up!! Way to go for Sarah on them jeans, and the insulin!! Woo-hoo! :)

Great job with the food choices yesterday! Kudos to Sarah for fitting into those skinny jeans! I'm sure the scale will catch up to her soon. I REALLY WISH I could have been at your party to watch all the goings on...hee hee. Have a great day :D

those bribed children got bout $10 for the huggle... thats more than 2 pints of Guinness!! Never again.. chuckles.. time to head off home... *doing the vulcan sign* "Eat well and prosper!"

Ahhhh, Dave, I saved your journal until last because I can just feel the cool Irish breeze wafting over me when I read it. Oh. Maybe that's the ceiling fan. Well, I can dream! We can't wait to meet Sarah! I can't wait until you have internet at home, as I just can't get used to the fact that it can be 9:00 in the morning here in Arizona, and you have just written "time to head off home . . ." Then the really AGGRAVATING part is, I got side-tracked on a business call, had to check/write an email, for some reason clicked on a link, and then I LOST what I had written here because I hadn't clicked on "send" yet!!! Grrr!! I have to get my priorities right!! ;-) So, as I trudge into my day, I hope you HAD a good one! Please send more breeze tomorrow!

That is wonderful for Sarah! :D Tell her how happy I am for her. When you guys get internet, can we meet her? That, of course, would mean that you would have to share the computer, but please! :) Inches are lost more than pounds on this diet, that is why taking measurements is important. Come to think of it, I need to do that. And yea, stop with the drinking. :P

er..have your family actually MET you? or know you? I can't believe they'd be surprised at Davey being Davey! ;) Heck, even we know you well!! In your "sober" moments, you're hilarious, so in your drunk moments, I wouldn't expect any less!!! LOL! On the flip side, maybe you've been "good" for so long on this weight-loss thing, that your family's forgotten your previous drinking years! :)...So glad for Sarah that she got such a wonderful surprise!! Nothing feels as good as fitting in your skinny jeans! :)
