Was at a medical conference in Boston all day today. Left at 7 and didn't get back home until 7 (I had to stop by the office to see 2 kiddos before going home). I ate BF before I left and I took my lunch so I wouldn't be tempted to buy something that I couldn't figure out the calorie count for. Snacks were available but I only had some mixed nuts. Dean Ornish was one of the keynote speakers at the conference and today another speaker presented research on the medical benefits of a vegan diet. He also recommended that everyone take Vit B12 supplements, even if you have never been tested or determined to be low (it is a water-soluble vitamin so you can't overdose on it; whatever your body doesn't use will get flushed out in your urine). It helps to stabilize lots of free-radicals which cause cellular damage. I'll be buying it tomorrow. He also said that the oral formulation is just as bio-available as the injectable. Came home tonight and had a big (but low fat) turkey burger with all the fixin's. So much for vegan. I haven't eaten red meat in over 30 years (only chicken, fish, and occasional pork) but not sure I could give up all animal derived proteins. Would love to hear from others on FS that are doing it and are successful.
