5/26 Fasting blood sugar 6.3 mmol/L

Second morning of waking up to a shoulder problem although today is a lot worse that yesterday. I suspect it is either bursitis or frozen shoulder. I've already had frozen shoulder on the right side (took me 5 yrs to heal from it too with partial recovery as in I don't have full motion of the joint/arm) but this is more painful than I remember on the left side. Then again, my left arm is my dominant arm. Hell, lifting my coffee cup to drink is causing the feeling of wanting to give way - moved coffee cup to drink from right hand. I've just put on some tiger balm to see if it will help and I rarely take pain pills but this is one of those times that I have indulged in my arthritic Tylenol. I can't take NSAIDS due to my allergy to ASA (Aspirin). If it keeps up at this intensity then I will be going to the hospital if I can't get in to see my Doctor. Anyway, this it is not something I need or want right now. Trying to figure out what I did to trigger this but it's all stuff I've normally done. But I've done something to aggravate the joint...growls. I did notice yesterday a lot of clicking/grinding in my shoulder joint when I held it with my right hand trying to determine the range, Maybe that's what triggered it. But this has been my fear that my dominant arm/shoulder would go and I am screwed with a less than optimum right arm/shoulder. And I use my cane in my left hand while walking short distances outside. Ugh, so it's either use the rollator all the time for the next while or try to shift the cane to the right side and possibly re-trigger that shoulder/arm. Growls some more.

Not a happy person right now as y'all can tell by my writing. But it's stays put for today's journal entry because I am all about keeping things real - both good and bad.

...I should have done the ice gel pack...but I need to go put that in the freezer...ugh...story of my life...

Have a blessed day/weekend everyone.

5/25 Fasting blood sugar 6.7 mmol/L

I was a good gal last night...lol. Got a craving around midnight because my sleep patterns are out of whack. But this time I ate the skin off of two chicken thighs. Yes, you read that right. I got the flavour notes from the seasonings I had put on the 4 thighs I had cooked up plus the salt and the grease/fat. It was chewy and it hit the spot. AND, I stayed away from anything junk-ish. What I really need to do is get some more full fat sour cream and dump in a pkg of onion soup mix to make my dip with and have that with my pork rinds.

Checking out my weekly flyers online for any deals. Came across President's Choice offering 4 hot dog or hamburger buns for $4.49. They are gluten free. But, me being me I went and looked at the ingredients after gasping at the carb count for one hot dog bun (37g carb, 6g fiber so 31g net carb).

WTF is cultured sugar?

But yeah, it might be GF but definitely not good for my body with these ingredients:

Water
modified tapioca starch
brown rice flour
cornstarch
potato starch
sugars (dextrose, sugar, cultured sugar)
midoleic sunflower oil or high oleic sunflower oil
psyllium seed husk
yeast
pea fiber
modified cellulose
white vinegar
sea salt
ricebran
cellulose gum

I have my mindset of "even though it says it's gluten-free DOES NOT mean it's good for you"!!!

Oh and the Cultured Sugar? I went and looked it up.

Culture Dextrose (Sugar) is a fermented food product that extends the shelf-life of many common foods, including pasta, sauces, meats, meat alternatives, salad dressings, and much more. As the name might suggest, this product is made from two central components: dextrose and bacteria that create the “culture” of this product.

Yeah...no thanks...I won't be introducing that product to my household - not even to try once.

*Goes back and sips my coffee while looking at more flyers. If I find anything else of interest, I will post it...lol*

OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

I made mention of this on another FS's post and thought maybe I'd better give everyone some extra information. Now I don't have the medical reports/findings from 13 years ago when I first researched this but I've checked a couple of websites and the information is valid amongst them:

https://draxe.com/nutrition/olive-leaf-benefits/
https://www.verywellhealth.com/the-benefits-of-olive-leaf-extract-89489
https://www.webmd.com/diet/health-benefits-olive-leaf-extract
https://plantshospital.com/olive-leaf-extract/
https://www.healthyandnaturalworld.com/health-benefits-of-olive-leaf-extract/

- comes from the leaves of the olive tree (Olea europaea), the same tree which we get olive oil from, and contains the active compound oleuropein, one of several components that help with overall health
- Olive leaves have traditionally been used to enhance the functioning of the immune system and enhance the body’s efforts to fight invading organisms.
- Olive Leaf Extract has more antioxidant potential than olive oil
- is Anti-fungal, Anti-Bacterial & Antiviral
- helps to lower blood pressure
- Compounds in Olive Leaf Extract helps to boost heart health
- helps to kill or certain parasites
- helps to manage Diabetes with it's Anti-Inflammatory effect
- can possibly help one loose weight (helps with metabolism)
- can positively affect brain function
- can help with strengthening of bones
- can benefit symptoms of Arthritis
- can help prevent certain cancers (more research needs to be done but luteolin & apigenin are 2 anticancer compounds found in olive leaf extract but not in olive oil)

Side Effects
- If you are taking medication for diabetes or hypertension, consult with your doctor before taking Olive Leaf Extract (may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or hypotension (low blood pressure) when taken with your medications)
- If you have kidney disease again, consult with your doctor before taking it
- If you are allergic to pollen there is a chance you could be allergic to Olive Leaf Extract (although I am allergic to all sorts of pollen and I did not have a reaction)
- some studies have reported coughing, vertigo, stomach pains & headaches as mild side effects

Doseage
There is no standardized dose for olive leaf extract due to lack of research (as with most herbals) as well as it is not considered to be an essential nutrient required daily. The supplements come in capsules, soft gels, powders and tinctures. Since the dosage of this supplement varies, it is recommended to pay attention to how much olive leaf extract is in the one you choose.

Note:
Please remember I am not a doctor and I am giving this advice purely for informational purposes only. Do your own research past the websites I've listed above.
But on a personal note, this extract has worked for me in the past and I do plan on introducing it back into my diet to help jump start my own immune system.
