I have a problem- it's called my partner....
Example- we are going on holiday on Friday, for which I need Euros. Ok I said to him, I will get out of the car where we usually park, I can get mu Euros from a supermarket that has the best rate, which is around 20 minutes walk from where we park. Chatting away in the car I realised that we'd gone past the turn off for the parking space and he was going to drop me off at the supermarket 'to save me walking'....
Conversation 'I'm just going to get (something) from upstairs'- reply 'I'll get it for you' and off he goes upstairs.
After dinner he'll wander in with a lager for him, plus a cider for me, plus maybe a meringue with ice cream and tinned fruit... without asking.
Short of strangling him after explaining hundreds of time to STOP doing these things I can't think of anything else to do, has anyone else got such a 'helpful' partner- how should I deal with him?

Have good choices on hand for him to bring you.

I have a very “helpful” spouse, as well. I have found that I just have to reverse the role and beat him to it. I try to get him another drink when I see he’s running low before he can offer me. 😝

lol my husband. I just say thank you and then let him know he can have my portion of ( whatever it is he bought) later for himself. he hasn't been doing it lately. probably because he's gaining weight now! 😂

Yes! I have to make it a two person activity anytime he goes to the kitchen or moun in agony that I can’t eat it all. 😝 have a short chat about how I’m feeling better and shrinking my appetite. Sometimes I wonder if he secretly thinks that I will ask him to make similar changes to his diet.

Maybe don't vocalize that you're going to go upstairs, or to get (something.)

If you have never read the book “the five love languages” by Gary Chapman, you might consider it. I found out that my husband needed more spoken words and I need more doing and it helped us to be a better couple. It sounds like he is trying to show his love but maybe be showing it in the way you need right now. Early in our changes my husband would offer me snacks. I would say thank you but no thank you and even through things away. Now he asks first. It has been good for us. Good luck!
