2 1/2 weeks after a 3 week cruise, where I was marginally careful (didn't pig out) I am reaping the repercussions. I have cruised, been careful and kicked myself after, eating badly upon return and gaining anyways, because I felt deprived. So - I ate and had a couple of drinks a night, as well as lots of virgin bloody Mary's, diet pop etc. ( free due to cruising loyalty program) and too many trials of gluten free deserts. We always do only stairs, rather than elevators. Fitbit logged 50 to 60 plus floors per day; do a minimum of 2 miles brisk walking on the deck on non port days, and dance, then snorkel for hours whenwever we can; oh, and often walk miles in port. On Bonaire, we walked 3 1/2 miles, one way, with gear to an incredible snorkeling experience. We log 17000 to 24000 plus steps per day. So, my fitbit read well over 2000 to almost 3000 calorie expenditure per day. However, I obviously over compensated at meals. So, now I knuckle down and pare it back. Yard work will be my salvation, the old wheelbarrow and shovel workout.

You did great, enjoyed your vacation and were active! My husband and I love cruises and we buy the drink package so I am always bad but as soon as we get home I am back at it! Love the drink of the day while cruising.

3 weeks!?! Please adopt me. 😄 My longest cruise was 9 days and I certainly did a little damage in those days. I’d say you did pretty darn good considering all of the options. Those stairs are the key. On my next cruise I am going to try to keep my hand out of that bread basket. It gets me every time.

We can never out run (or out excercise) the fork. I'm highly active with gym, beach volleyball and pickleball, but I suffer setbacks when I start thinking that I can eat more because I played hard today. I almost always eat calories more than I burned off playing and suffer a setback. But, weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint, so setbacks are not the end of progress. Fun vacation!!!
